Angela McIver, Executive Director
Angela
joined the Fair Housing Rights Center in Southeastern Pennsylvania as
Executive Director in November 2007.
She has over 16 years of human service experience and specializes in
developing institutional and organizational networking, community
partnerships, and coalitions affecting adults and youths (including the
provision of counseling, related support networks, performance analysis, and
training). Her former professional roles include: Executive Director of
Enough Is Enough, Inc, a mentoring initiative under the auspices of the
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers - Local 98; Court
Administrative Officer III (Resource Coordinator) for the First Judicial
District of Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas Pretrial Services Division;
Administrator for the School District of Philadelphia Office Secondary
Education; and Case Manager and Counselor in behavioral healthcare settings
at earlier times in her career.
Angela
volunteers with several community organizations and will advocate or serve
as a broker of human services for anyone who expresses the need. Formerly,
she served on the Philadelphia Forensic Task Force and the Philadelphia
Ex-Offenders Task Force.
Currently, she serves as Vice Chairperson to the Montgomery County Advisory
Council to the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, the Health Committee
for City Lights, the Executive Committee for the Black Male Development
Symposium, PA Health Department Certified Instructor for Alcohol and Highway
Safety School, and Co-Founder of Women Cultivating Women, which serves to
strengthen intergeneration relationships among women and empower women and
girls from various socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds on social and
genders specific issues.
Previously, Angela produced and then hosted a segment on the talk show
Dialogues on 900 AM WURD.
At WURD she explored an array of social policy as well as
arts/culture/entertainment topics with a variety of actors, athletes,
authors, administrators, educators, filmmakers, politicians, and devout
listeners. She also produced the two time award winning independent film,
Life Isn’t Fair.
Angela earned a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Science from the Pennsylvania State University as well as a Master of Social Services and a Master of Law and Social Policy from Bryn Mawr College. Email
Kathleen McCabe, Director of Enforcement
Kathleen (Katie) earned her J.D. in 2008 from Temple University Beasley School of Law. During law school, she was an editor for the Temple Political and Civil Rights Law Review and a member of the Student Public Interest Network. Through her internship in the public housing unit at Community Legal Services, Katie gained valuable experience in assisting marginalized individuals with various housing issues. After graduating from law school, Katie served as a law clerk to the Honorable Mary C. Jacobson, P.J.S.C. in the Superior Court of New Jersey.
Katie was admitted to both the Pennsylvania bar and the New Jersey bar in 2009.
Heather Lewis, Director of Education, Outreach, and Development
Heather Lewis has 10 years of non-profit experience and 6 years in non-profit housing services. It is with a commitment for helping others that Heather also founded the non-profit agency, Reality Speaking. Reality Speaking is committed to working with vulnerable youth in bridging the gap of home and school.
In her 10 years of service and the founder of a non-profit, Heather has acquired skills in program development, program implementation, program documentation, grant writing, technical writing, public relations, public speaking, seminar presentation, event planning, fundraising, monthly reports, newsletters, community outreach, board of directors correspondent, volunteer coordinator, board recruitment, program facilitator, seminar presentations, and research.
Heather also serves as the Montgomery County Housing Coalition Treasurer and is a member of the Executive Committee, is a Montgomery County Community Action and Development Commission (CADCOM)board member, an Advisory Board member for New Choices/New Options Montgomery County Community College and a member of Victory Christian Fellowship in Audubon, PA
Elizabeth Rogers, Director of Testing Services
Elizabeth earned her J.D. in 2008 from The Dickinson School of Law of The Pennsylvania State University. While attending law school, Elizabeth was a Certified Legal Intern with the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office – Appellate Division. Elizabeth also performed volunteer legal research through The Dickinson School of Law’s Miller Center for Public Interest Advocacy, and worked as a research assistant for a legal research and writing professor. Prior to joining FHRC, she gained experience as a contract attorney for solo practitioners.
Elizabeth also attended Bryn Athyn College of the New Church where she graduated cum laude with a B.A. in History. While at Bryn Athyn College, she served as president of Bryn Athyn College’s community service organization CARE, and was a recipient of the Theta Alpha Award.
Elizabeth was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 2008, and is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
